Jama Dodson has been the Executive Director of the Saint Louis MHB since January 2012. Her career has been primarily spent in government and non-profit settings, serving in executive management roles for over 30 years. Over the years, she developed a strong commitment to strengthening impact of direct services through alignment of service providers and funders. Her community involvement reflects this in past and current memberships on the boards of the Gateway Center for Giving, the United Way of Greater St. Louis and the Leadership Council of Ready By 21 St. Louis.
She came to the St. Louis area from Rochester, New York where she had served as executive director of two youth serving organizations. In 2000 she was offered the opportunity to become founding Executive Director of St. Louis for Kids, a nonprofit organization established to strengthen the youth service sector in the St. Louis metropolitan region. Much of that work involved developing quality standards and service networks of organizations throughout the region. A major accomplishment was the development of Quality Standards for afterschool programs that were widely accepted by local providers and later adopted by the State of Missouri.
After graduating from what was then Southwest Missouri State University with a bachelor’s degree in secondary education, she moved east, living first in Washington, D. C. and later Rochester, NY where she earned a Master’s in Public Administration from State University of New York at Brockport.View All
